Day of the Dahlia

Dahlias hail from Mexico and Central America. There are 14 groups of Dahlias, 42 species, that flower lovers choose from for their gardens. All attention is given to the blooms and Be-1 helps ensure delight in all their vivid colors.

These images are from the Single Orchid (Star), Semi cactus, Cactus, Decorative, and Anemone-flowered groups. They are dicotyledonous plants which are related to the sunflower, daisy, chrysanthemum, and zinnia.

Dahlias usually grow in areas where there is no frost. Most gardeners that experience frost dig up the bulbs in the fall and keep them in a root cellar until planting. They just go dormant. They love plenty of water and sunlight and these were the beneficiaries of Be-1 and they have grown to beautiful sizes with brilliant color.

The plant is sometimes referred to as the "valley flower.”
